Awareness 2002 Ramping Up for Homeland Security (Discontinued)
As terrorists seek increasingly to harm the American people, the roles that public safety agencies play in our defense assumes an increasing importance as well. The IOSS, in cooperation with the Department of Justice, has produced this two-part video to introduce OPSEC to public safety personnel. Part 1 provides a short overview of the OPSEC methodology, while Part 2 explains how the OPSEC process can be applied by public safety agencies in a variety of situations. Through the Eyes of the Adversary: Operations Security for Public Safety Agencies
An adversary is anyone who is collecting information about you and your organization and has the intent to use this information to harm you. Today's public safety agencies face a wide range of adversaries , including criminals, terrorists, hackers, extremists, foreign intelligence agencies, and the insider threat. According to captured terrorist training manuals, about 80% of the information needed to plan an attack can be obtained from open sources of information such as the internet. This video describes your adversaries and how they collect intelligence using unclassified open sources of information. It presents a process known as operations security, or OPSEC, that can be used to deny your adversaries the critical information they need to plan their operations against you.
